Coin Flip is a free online coin toss built around one idea: settling a decision should take a single click, and the result should be beyond argument.
Coin Flip turns the oldest tie-breaker in the world into something you can reach for anywhere. Tap the hand, press the Flip Coin button, or hit Spacebar — the coin launches with a realistic thumb-flick, spins in full 3D, and lands on heads or tails.
Around that flip we built the things people actually ask for: live session statistics, a running heads-to-tails ratio, and a timestamped history of your last ten flips. Everything updates in real time, and nothing gets in the way of the next toss.
Every flip is decided by your browser's cryptographic random number generator — the same class of randomness browsers use for encryption keys. We read a single random byte and split its 256 possible values exactly down the middle, so heads and tails each get precisely half. There is no modulo bias, no weighting, and no way for us to influence the outcome.
This is genuinely fairer than a real coin. A Stanford study led by mathematician Persi Diaconis found that a hand-flipped coin lands on the same side it started on about 51% of the time, thanks to a physics effect called precession. Add manufacturing imperfections — uneven weight, worn edges, embossing differences — and a physical coin is never quite 50/50. Ours is.
Coin Flip has been settling arguments since 2011. It is built and maintained by a small independent team who wanted a coin toss that felt like a coin toss — not a number appearing on a screen.
